Converting from jpg
Converting from jpg
I am having a problem working with a jpg file. I've looked at several tutorials and still no luck. I've both imported and opened a jpg file in Inkscape but when I select it and then choose Path/Object to Path it says I have no selected object to convert to path. Help please.

Re: Converting from jpg
you need to import the jpg.
Select image.
Then path/Trace Bitmap.
You can fool around with the Brightness cutoff (and other setting too) and do an update to see your results (in the preview pane) before selecting OK

Re: Converting from jpg
Path object to path is usually used with fonts and dingbats, but with jpgs pngs etc you path trace bmp and that will do the trick

Still stumped. I'm attaching the file I'm trying to convert. I want to maintain the colors so that when I import it into SCAL I can show the different layers and print accordingly.

Re: Converting from jpg
Here it is with six different colors. I didn't move the colors apart so that you can see where the pieces go. Just open the file in Inkscape and if you have SCAL2 all you need to do is click on a color and use Control G. Do this for each color. SCAL2 imports groups into their own layers. You can also move the pieces in Inkscape (before or after grouping) if you are going to cut more than one color on the same mat.
