WE DO NOT POST DISNEY files on this BOARD
WE DO NOT POST DISNEY files on this BOARD
Just wanted to alert folks to the fact that we do not "share" Disney files due to copyright issues.

Re: WE DO NOT POST DISNEY files on this BOARD
thank you Susan.
I think some people just have no idea about the copyright issues & laws, nor do they realize that they are stealing copyright work by making svg files & posting them for all the world to use.

I kinda thought it wasn't allowed.. I didn't want to say anything though when one was requested and then posted... I wonder if there is a sticky that could be placed somewhere to inform people of this before they ask.

Here is a picture of the Vector Cartoon home page. Read the disclaimer.

todd, I'm not sure how to read your reply......
but, it doesn't matter what that disclaimer says on that one website, the rules of this board clearly state that no copyright images are allowed. Disney has always been, and will always be the big no-no.
the same goes for files of dies made by any manufacturer--sizzix, QK, provocraft, etc. , as well as copying Cricut cart images, and any punches by any company. It's just plain wrong to scan a cut, make a file & post it for all to take--the copyright holder is being ripped off & being taken advantage of. If someone wants those images/cuts--they need to go buy the item.
see #1, board rules here:

I think people either "get" or "don't get" copyright laws & making files to post, etc.

Re: WE DO NOT POST DISNEY files on this BOARD
It is the age old topic.
How far do we go?
There are always plenty of requests for converting logos, bitmaps, colouring in pages etc. They to are all copyright material.
Should we stop allowing these requests?
I would go as far as say no traced artwork is to be posted only original artwork should be posted. Most traced artwork would have some copyright. This would be a bot over the top. So how far do we go?
I like the fact it is for personal use only. Maybe with every post we should state it is for personal use only.
That's my 2 cents worth

Re: WE DO NOT POST DISNEY files on this BOARD
Did some research and found the following information. Disney contributed heavily to elected officials and hired high priced lobbyists in the late 1990's to get the 75 year copyright law extended to 95 years,
They won the right for a 20 year extention for many of it's characters like Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck and others. Those copyrights will expire during the years of 2023-2029 unless they get another extention approved by our politicians.
Disney copyright information posted on their site, specifically prohibits the posting of any Disney image on the internet unless you have written permission from them to do so. Only exceptions are schools and libraries that use the images for educational purposes or references in written materials.

Re: WE DO NOT POST DISNEY files on this BOARD
I say if anyone wants any of these copyright items then the person that has the file available should email it to them like Todd does with some of his files... I'm sure Todd wouldn't want his stuff posted publicly if he's emailing the person the file.. I used to work in a fabric store and they weren't even allowed to carry Disney printed fabrics.. Same thing.. Copyright. That's just my 2 cents...

Re: WE DO NOT POST DISNEY files on this BOARD
Here we go again. Why can't you just let people post what they want? If Disney gets upset they will ask people not to do it. Otherwise mind your own business. No one is forcing you to download files you might think are illegal. A lot of people on this forum have blogs where they post famous cartoon characters for people to download, why don't you go to their blog and demand they stop if it bothers you so much.People are always posting a picture of something from a tv show or business that they want an svg file of and no one seems to mind so why just pick out Disney? they are all copy righted. If Craft Edge wants you to stop posting illegal files on this forum, they will ask you to stop. Meanwhile we don't need YOU to police US.
