Need help deleting a part of svg

I am trying to delete the part of the girls shoulder where the hair hangs. I am cutting it out of vinyl so its hard to cut that part out afterward...I would if I was just using paper, but Im not...PLEASE HELP!! I tried deleting certain nodes and all that stuff but it just messed it up worse. Thanks for all your help!

Thanks! SO...how'd ya do it? I am learning the basics of Inkscape and am doing pretty good so far, but was stuck on that one...

I deleted the two shoulder lines on each side and then I used the pen tool and reconnected the vectors.
