Free paper pieceing animal bitmaps
Hi, I designed these little animal parts to be cut with the cricut. There are all sorts of animal heads, bodies, legs, and arms. They put together into all sorts of cartoon like cutsey animals. I could not convert them to svg, because I only own the trial version. I need to sell some pages so I can afford to buy the pro version. however, the bitmaps, which you open in Inkscape are saved in a file on my sight at http://printabledigitaldesign.com/freebees.html. You'll love them. They are all the paper pieceing animals you will ever need. They are adjustable to. Make them sit, stand, shorten legs or arms, have a blast. Take a look.

Not sure what you mean about the Pro version. You can make svgs with Inkscape, which is free. There is a mini-tutorial on my blog that shows how to do it quickly and easily. Only the closed shapes will work in SCAL, though.

What i mean is that i didn't buy it. It is free for personal use, but my sight is a business, I didn't want to break any rules and use it for makeing money even if it is just a freebee on a business sight. Someone worked hard to design that program and has much more smarts than I have, I don't want to take advantage.

if you downloaded the bitmap file, then all the shapes are closed, They are solid black, they can't be open if they are filled solid black.

Just let me explain, the outlined shapes, are for paper piecers who have to use scissors. I know not every scrapper has the fortune to have a cricut. You can download them for free to, use them as stencils, to trace and cut the shapes by hand, but if you have a cricut download the bitmaps. Copy and past the parts together to create full body silouhettes or cut the heads and arms seperately and put them together yourself, they have a completely different look that way. Add a little chalk for shape and shade, a little black dots face, they are really cute. I have photoshoped some of the full body sillouhettes and they are also free to download. They can give you an idea of what these parts can look like if you know what you are doing.

Re: Free paper pieceing animal bitmaps
Once you get the parts you want the way you want them, open the bitmap into Inkscape. Go to path and select trace bit map, on the pop up screen I always turn the colors and scans down to 2, and remove background, then make sure it is set on brightness cut off. It will tace the path where the color changes, and since black and white is a pretty stark color change, it just makes one nice line, no double line troubles. I always make sure my bit maps are a solid silouhette before I open them in inkscape. I occasionally forget to make sure the brightness cut off is what i selected and then thats when i get those double lines. I hope this helps. Thanks

by the way this forum is why I bought Sure cuts a lot. I learned everything i needed to know from good people on this forum, I didn't even know inkscape existed until the first time i came here. THis is a brilliant forum, talk about finding a niche. Brilliante. And everyone sharing the things they found, learned, and even made themselves. Thanks to everyone, you saved me a fortune on cricut cartridges. I have quite a few, but I see no need to buy another one, now that I have Sure-cuts-a-lot. Thanks for all the freebees. I love them.

Re: Free paper pieceing animal bitmaps
okay a little more directions about converting svg. After you do everything i said and clicked okay for trace bitmap, then you will be left withtwo layers on your image. One is just a bitmap file, the other one is the traced image. If you click on the tool bar the second button down, the one with the little squares all over it, and then click on both of the layers, you will see one turns to little points and the other does not. The one that does not, just delete. The one that does is your cutting path. That is the one you will want to "save as" an svg file. The svg file will then import into sure cuts a lot, which will let your cricut cut it out. hope that helps.
