Cricut mat *TIP*

Post by craftycreationz »

Good morning everyone!
I just wanted to share cool tip w/ you all, if it has already been posted, i apologize.

I was having problems with my paper staying in place on the mat while i was cutting, it would come up and drag around because the mat wasn't very tacky anymore. SO, before i cut, i use my scraper tool, and scrape over the entire paper on the mat, and it helps stick it down really well. Hope this works for you guys, (and gals!)

Have a great day, Happy Cutting!! :D

wiping it good with a baby wipe helps as well.

I've also heard that you can use a lint roller (the masking tape kind) and that really helps!

Hi
In order to make my Cricut mat last longer, (and because I had some bad experiences with expensive $3 a page glitter paper when the paper moved and it screwed up the cut) I started using the green painters tape--it's not very sticky but just enough, I just put a small piece on each corner of the paper, it comes off easily, doesn't harm the paper or the mat, and best of all, the paper never moves, and it doesn't matter if the mat is still tacky or not. Basically the only way it needs replacing is if it gets too cut up--and the tape is cheap, I got it at Liquidation World for about $2.

P.S. I have the cricut expression, so I've used this for 8 1/2 x 11 and 12 x 12 -- but I imagine it would work similarly for the smaller 6x12 size.

when your mat looses its stickiness, get a broad tip 2 way zig glue pen/marker. All you do is apply the glue to the mat and let dry. It becomes repositionable and almost like new. (there is a youtube video to show you how, just search for cricut mats). i clean mine with a baby wipe and let dry before i glue.

Mine leaves little ball of goo on the paper. It's quite annoying. DOes anyone know how to get this to stop?

I had exactly the same problem with the glue residue on my paper. I stopped using it as I was told it was faulty and bought a new one. The new one is perfect and NO RESIDUE...yey!

I have used many of the above suggestions as well as my brayer to get paper to adhere to a less sticky mat. I've also taped off non-sticky edges and sprayed the mat with Krylon Re-positional adhesive - voila! New mat. :)

Wendy,
is the "broad" tip and "jumbo" tip the same pen? I found one on ebay, but it says Jumbo tip, not broad tip.
I don't want to buy the wrong one. TIA
