Embossing and cutting with SCAL

Post by Soulsisterd »

Hi everyone. i need help with the embossing and cutting step in
I watched this video Embossing with Cricut Blade Turned Backwards from Joylife.com. I understand turing the flipping the blade,(i have an old one I'm going to use) but once it has embossed what is the next step to cut? Do I unload the paper? Switch blades?
Also do i really need a rub mat to place on my cutting mat or is there an alternative?

Thank you.
Thanks a bunch

Fair warning turning the blade upside down in the Cricut can damage the blade holder over time and garrenty to damage the blade if you really want to emboss with the cricut invest in an embosser engraver from Amy Chomas of Chomas Creations here is a link to her blog-- http://amychomas.blogspot.com/
I would hate to see anyone damage their machines by doing the blade upside down , I dow startup tech for the Black Cat Cougars and tell all my clients to never try it as even a small nick in the housing bearing can make for bad and ruined cuts this I will reconmend that no one with what ever cutter should do.

Rachell is right, the blade is made of carbide and the magnet is a lot softer then carbide, so it will chew up the magnet and make the blade wobble in the blade holder. The price of my embossing kits are actually less then the cost of a new blade holder!
After I emboss I use a pair of scissors to cut around my design. Metal sheets are super easy to cut! Sometimes I add a square or circle around my design and cut around that. Cutting the metal can damage the blade or dull it really quickly, so I'm all about the scissors! http://amychomas.blogspot.com/
