Diaper Cake

Post by pastda3 »

Wasn't sure where to post this, but since I'm going to add my svg file for the clip, I'll place it here. I finally finished that diaper cake I've been working on forever. The shower is this weekend. I had this creative block because I was trying to incorporate some red. I just couldn't find a way to do it without the cake looking to Valentine-ish, so I just decided to stick with pink & white. I cut the clips out of a thin clear plastic sheet I had. I used the clips to hold the curled ribbon and stuck them into the diapers. They worked out pretty well. For some reason the cake looks lopsided, but it's not in person. Glad that's done.

OMG...look who has all the talent now! OH my goodness...this is just FANTASTIC, and the clip idea is such a good one. Very good thinking to come up with that.

Thank you gj. I've only made two cakes and they've been for people I know. I would like the diapers to be usable, so I try to make sure that no glue or anything that touches the diapers can damage them. It took a couple of tries, but this holder worked fairly well and I only had to cut it once. The plastic clam shells I had were too thick even using the multicut.

You had to cut quite a few of the ribbon holders, but what a GREAT way to get the ribbons to stay on nice, and as you say, without leaving a mess, and they can be reused for something again.

Hi Laura - Good to see you again. I used the box of 92 size 1 Swaddlers. I like them because they are all white except for the band. What I don't like is that they're scented.

Thanks again everyone for the nice comments. :)
