First how come this does not show up under "Things we need you to know" topic?
Is this version ready for release or is it a beta version?
Where can I find an explanation for all the new features in 2.038c?
Here is my problem:
I downloaded the version and like some of the new features, BUT it keeps crashing. I imported an svg moved it to a folder (I really need help with this folder system) then tried to do the same thing with another svg and the layers window pixelated on me. I could no longer see the layers it was just blocks of colors. I went up to the menu bar and the drop down menu was black. After a couple of seconds the words reappeared. The layers window was still pixelated. I closed the layers window and reopened it, still pixelated. I minimized the program and then restored it. The window never showed me the layers again. I just closed the program and restarted.
Yesterday when I was working in SCAL it just kept crashing. Is this a known problem? This new version has crashed on me more than SCAL 1 and the previous version of 2. I don't really remember these version crashing. Could it be some configuration I have on my machine. I haven't changed anything except downloading the 2.038c version of SCAL.
Please explain the folder system to me. I can ungroup an item and have all the pieces show on different layers. All the layers seem to be on the same level. If the folder is the top level, shouldn't I be able to change the folder color and have all the pieces in that folder have the same layer color? I can change the layer color for the pieces and delete them, but I can't delete the folder because it will remove all the pieces. What is the hierarchy? I just don't like a lot of layers listed if they have no function. Can I ungroup an item and put each piece on a separate layer and remove the folder without all the pieces being deleted?
Can I revert back to the pre 2.038c version?

There is a tutorial for working with layers.
When I download the 2.038 I watched all of the tutorial videos for Scal...it helped me a great deal...some I watched a few times to get the hang of things.
I am just going to make a guess that it might be your computers processor speed not being fast enough.

Re: SCAL 2.038c
I had to revert back to version 2.012. Every time I used version 2.038c, the program crashed.

Re: SCAL 2.038c
I am glad that you have a version again that you can work with.
Not sure why it happened as it did...all I know is I ran a 32bit with Vista and a trouble. I put it in the shop and while it was gone, I bought another 32bit with Vista refurb on the cheap....everything worked GREAT with the refurb, but I ended up giving it to my son at Christmas and went back to the repaired original computer which I thought would continue to work, but crashed big time, and made it's way to the hazardous waste site.
I now have Windows7 64bit and I have no troubles...but as I said I had no troubles with the refurb 32bit Vista either...but some components of the computer may have been different somehow, I don't know.
Just glad you are operational again...that is the important part.
