Re: WAY OT - polymer clay
You would have to place them first and then bake.. Just dab a bit of water between the layers for a good stick.. then bake..

I've always had good luck with Loctite's Quicktite Gel superglue. Especially when you are gluing the clay onto something else.

Re: WAY OT - polymer clay
I cannot tell you how delighted I was to see your post about polymer clay. I love working with polymer clay since I have not bought a kiln for my real passion of working with ceramic clay. I was very pleased to see that you received a response to your question as well. I agree with the other comments/suggestions and would like to add that if you have it or able to buy it, Sculpey Bake n Bond and Translucent Liquid Sculpey work really well too. Translucent Liquid Sculpey's adhesive qualities are only activated during baking so it would need to be used before baking. Bake n Bond bonds raw clay to raw clay, raw clay to baked clay and baked clay to baked clay but again needs to be baked to be activated for adhesive.
Side Note: Translucent Liquid Sculpey has many other things it can do for Polymer clay, if you have not already checked it out, you should. It is a little expensive but a little bit goes a long way.
I hope it was ok to give my two cents!
Happy Holiday!!!

Re: WAY OT - polymer clay
Thanks for the tip on Translucent Liquid Sculpey and Bake n Bond. I want to make a box and since I wasn't sure how the sides would hold up glued, i put the project off. I might try it. I love working with clay and since I started using my cutter for the shapes, it is really fun. I wanted to try some of the designs from Scroll Saw but using clay instead of wood.
Thanks again

thanks Krainey, your 2 cents are always welcome. I bought the Craft Pasta Machine with my birthday money and some clay so i want to make some candy cane ornaments. Not as industrious as Anointed yet
I am hopeing that just for the candy cane - winding the 2 colors together then baking will suffice without any adhesive. If not, speak now or forever hold your peace cuz i am gonna start those this weekend ( i hope ). Thanks everyone. All suggestions needed. And if anyone has some pics of stuff - i would love to see it.

TheresaTT, I am sorry I was not online this weekend but if you did not get to your candy canes yet I wanted to say that for something like what your doing you should be fine as long as you make sure to pinch the ends in a way to seal the two colors together. I have made similar items and after I pinched the ends I cut off a small pit to ensure the ends were flat. Does that make sense? PM me if you have trouble or need more tips.

Sound great!!! You should post a picture of it when you are done - it will show yet another way in which scal and cutters like cricut can be used with other mediums. I used mine to cut out some simple shapes to trace onto clay and then cut out for ornaments. I did not have any cookie cutters but I had my trusty cricut - yay!!!!

Re: WAY OT - polymer clay
WOW Are you actually cutting the polymer clay with the cricut? Do you put it directly only the mat or use a paper between them? Does it clog the ctter blade? How thin do you roll it? How do you keep the clay from stretching out of shape when you move it from the mat? Sorry for all the questions but I'm really excited at the posibilities this might open up.
