Upgrade Troubles

I have had SCAL for a year and a half now, and am really wanting to upgrade to SCAL 2. However, the system won't let me. I am told that my serial number has already been upgraded, but then told by the same system they have no record of my email address to retrieve the supposed serial number that they think they sent me for SCAL 2! I have the original email receipt of my purchase of SCAL but no record of purchasing an upgrade. I have NOT paid for an upgrade, don't know why the system would think I have. And my email hasn't changed in the time I have owned my cricut, little alone in the time I have owned SCAL. I am not trying to get away with not paying for it, I just want to work this out and pay the appropriate cost for an upgrade that I am entitled to, not the full purchase price . I have emailed the SCAL folks twice but received no reply. Has anyone else successfully gotten through these issues, or will I have to bite the bullet and pay full price for the competition to get the newer features? It is all so very upsetting. I cannot fathom why I am having these problems, nor why they do not respond. The product is great but I am about to turn my back on Craft Edge forever!!
