Inexpensive second-hand cartridges

Post by dcpyatt »

What cartridge would be a lesser desired cartridge that could be obtained at a minimal cost?

My used Cricut Personal is coming to me without a cartridge, and I will need one in order to make SCAL run.

I may try my hand at the 'spider hack' to simulate the George cartridge (I have an electronics background) if a fairly inexpensive cartridge doesn't exist. I just hate to spend $55 for cartridge that I won't ever use as a cartridge if I can make a homebrew fix for much less.

They're pretty much the same cost however, I have heard that sometimes Walmart puts them on really cheap to get rid of them. I believe around $30. You'll just have to keep your eye/ears open I guess. Good luck and have fun with your cricut!

ditto.

I'm searching for a Stamped cart myself. I see them priced really low. I'm going to see what they have sold for recently.

I just checked ebay & looks like you can get one of the new soccer mini carts for about $20-$25 with shipping.

The newer carts are the cheapest. They don't have as much stuff on them and they come without a box...They are around 35.00 but with all the NSD sales this weekend you might find an even better price!

YEA!!! I just bought a brand new Street Sign Solutions cartridge on eBay for $20.99 including shipping! I can use it for SCAL as well as freestanding for quick labeling. I think I've done pretty good for myself! I also found that there is a small craft store about 4 miles from me that is listed as a Provo dealer, so I'll have to stop and check them out for accessories since our WalMart doesn't seem to have much in stock anymore. They're right around the corner from the computer store and the motorcycle shop where I bought my Triumph, so my non-Cricut friends won't question what I'm doing in that part of town! :)

I don't care what they think anyways, I'll laugh all the way to the bank with my vinyl cuts! :)

Well, I sent an email to the Cricut Crew at work and within a few minutes I heard a Cricut conversation brewing in the adjoining room, so I had to go check it out.

One of our non-Cricut staff was asking about what all the Cricut talk was and the differences between the Personal and the Expression, and I mentioned the local craft shop that I found on Provo's site.

Immediately the non-Cricut person fired up the Provo site and the local store was called by one of our Cricut Crew, but we found that the shop owner apparently had just bought a unit for their daughter and used the store info to get it sent to them as a dealer, and Provo included them on their list, but they do not carry anything.

bummer... gonna have to look closer at WM and see what other local shops have for supplies.
