Can this be done?

Post by jfm722 »

I saw this on Pinterest today and was wondering if it was an idea that could be done with SCAL2 on the cricut?
Thanks for any help.

I used the text tool and typed the letters and spread them out a bit with the up arrow on the tracking in the Properties Panel, and then I unioned them to a long rectangle. I then made a copy and made it blackout and shadow pointy and then lay it on another long rectangle and did Path back minus front...then I took the long rectangle with the regular sized letters and fit them in the space and add two extra pieces...which probably weren't necessary, and did a union of all.

Oh wow, this sounds complicated! You gave some great directions, so I'm going to give it a try tonight or this weekend. I will let you know if I can do it. Thanks for taking the time to write out exactly how you did it and showing the pictures as well. I really appreciate it!

You are very welcome, and if you know how to use INkscape it can be done there too, I am sure...I just don't know how, but perhaps someone else will make mention of it.

Ok, I gave it a try and I must be doing something wrong. Where do you line the word happy up with the rectangle to then union the two? I was lining it up on the bottom of the rectangle and when I unioned the two the Happy disappeared. I don't mean to be a pain but I obviously am doing something wrong. Thanks for any help you can give.

Gji, sorry I don't know your name, but thank you for your help! I was able to do it and cut it. I really appreciate you taking the time to actually teach me how to do it. Now I can do this with any type of gift wrapping. Thanks again and I hope you have a great weekend! Jen

I did this one in just 5 minutes, pretty straightforward... Hope this works!

Did you use Inkscape, Amanda? I don't think that can be done the same way in SCAL. Please share how you did this in just the short version explanation. Thanks.
