Help! Inkscape worked fine for months and now won't work!

Okay, so I have used Inkscape for months now. Everything was wonderful! The way I use Inkscape is I take screenshots of clipart, paste into powerpoint where I crop to size, and then paste into Inkscape to trace and then convert to svg files for scal. (don't worry, I never post those svg files) However, all of a sudden I am unable to paste ANYTHING into Inkscape. Everytime I right-click paste or go to edit-paste, a window flashes up that a run-time error has occured and the program has to shut down. I am pretty sure I have a virus somehow in Inkscape. I searched for hours on the Inkscape website for any similar issues and found nothing. Then I posted the question on their question forum. The guys on that forum are all very techy (is that a word?) and said I probably had a virus, but they said they don't use Windows so they aren't familiar with that program. In other words, I think they meant I'm on my own. I uninstalled and then reinstalled the entire program, but I still have the same issue. Does anyone have any idea what I can do??? Any help or input would be appreciated. I am off to work now but will check responses later this evening. Thanks in advance!

Below is a link that might help or at least point you in the right direction. If it is a virus or spyware, you need to run a virus and spyware scan. You virus software should do that automatically but I have noticed that that after spyware scans, there are usually 20+ in my computer and I have it enabled.

I tried the scan, but you have to buy the program in order to use it. I don't think it found anything though. I have a very good anti-virus/spyware program that is the corporate edition for the school system I work for and have never had any viruses. This is so frustrating since no one else seems to have the same problem! Thanks for your help though.

You might try disabling your virus scanner while using SCAL. Seems to me other people have had luck with that.

Hi, I just wanted to post an update in case anyone ever has the same problem I had. I ended up uninstalling and reinstalling 4 times. For some reason, 4th time was the charm! It works perfectly again now. Yeah!
