Re: What is happening here?
Maureen, are you the one who had written instructions on how to print and cut with SCAL? I can't find any written instructions anywhere and can't use up all my bandwidth watching videos.

This might help you with calibration for an E.
In a nutshell:
Use 'Place Image' in SCAL to bring in a picture.
Make sure the 'Show Outlines Only' is not checked.
Also do a trace of this picture for the outline.
Have the picture and the outline on the mat and turn on and off with the eye in the 'Layers'.
Print this picture FROM Scal.
Calibrate properly
Put the picture on the mat normally along the edge lines.
Turn off the picture and cut the outline.

here is the link to the print and cut tutorial. Maureen opened it for me because I can't open .doc files. However, I have since learned that I can open those files in google docs. Good luck and have fun!

JoAnne is still here. Least she was a few days ago. She's not allowed to leave. We won't let her.
I poke my head in several times a week. I don't post a lot but this is still one of my favorite forums. No drama, lots of help and everyone is so sweet. I am still seething what happened to Todd. I miss him.

Just FYI -- if you do not have Word...there is freeware called NeoOffice that will open Word documents. I have my students that do not have Word use that software.

Re: What is happening here?
Just wanted to put my 2 cents in. I have never felt anything but caring and sharing on this forum. Everyone has been extermely nice and thoughtful and has help me so much. I agree that maybe it is the summer months that has people visiting less, but I don't think they are stopping entirely, or I HOPE NOT!!!! I hate it that someone has gotten on here and tried to bully someone, I have not experienced that and to me, it is just words and what can they hurt, everyone knows that they must not be true crafters in the spirit of the word. I will stay on here and lurk around, pick up some files ( haven't learn to share yet) and learn as much as I can from the pros * you guys/gals" and hope that you do not stop sharingyour knowledge. I am hooked on this and could say maybe obsessed, lol!!! Thanks for all you do to help us less knowledgeable crafters attempt to be as great as ya'll are, it means a lot. Happy crafting!!!!
Re: What is happening here?
I will be honest I have this page set as one of my home page tabs so everytime I open my browser there it is and I too have been wondering where everyone has gone. While I think summer and peoples money issues are part of it, I also think that the whole provocraft thing might have a lot to do with it (at least that is part of it I believe). Forgive me for bringing up a sore subject for some but I really noticed a huge drop off of participation literally right after the news came in.... I sure hope we start to see more participation soon though because I would hate for them to take the forum done or something because of it....
Have a great crafting week!!!!

Re: What is happening here?
Cheer up everyone! I don't think this forum is going anywhere. People have just gotten different cutters that have forums and are sharing now in a variety of different file formats. It is summer, or almost so, and people are doing many different less sedentary activities. Here is a picture to cheer you up for print and cut :) It is like a fabric paper piecing that I had sewn, but I did not trace the copyright pattern...I just looked at my stitched finished table topper and made a similar looking picture using SCAL and INK...for your viewing pleasure :)
