svg to jpeg? not the other way around!!
Is there a way to make an svg file and save it to the computer as a jpeg as well? I would like to post things on my blog of things I have done, but cannot do it in svg format.. please and thank you!!!!!!!

Re: svg to jpeg? not the other way around!!
The way I do it is...
1. With the SVG image enlarged and in the middle of your computer screen hit PRINT SCREEN
2. Now open Windows Paint
3. Once Paint is open hold down the CTRL button and hit V
4. The entire screen capture should now be on the Paint mat
5. Click on the icon in the upper left hand of the Paint Toolbox that looks like a square made out of dotted lines (Select)
6. Use this tool to put the square around just the image you want to keep.
7. Once the image is surrounded by the square... right click and hit CUT
8. Now click on File... in the upper left hand corner... then New
9. It will prompt you to save changes to Untitled... click no
10. Now right click anywhere on the new paint mat and click Paste
11. Just the image should now be on the screen...
12. Then click on file in the left hand corner and click SAVE.... you can now name the image and save it as a JPEG in any file you want.
This may seem like alot of steps, but once you do it its really quick.... You can do this for ANY image you find on the Internet
And can use the JPEG to create your SVG... at least in Inkscape, I really just use SCAL as a cutting program myself.
Hope that helps, Adam

Re: svg to jpeg? not the other way around!!
Thanks adam that was very sweet to type all of that out for me!! I am having a problem hitting print screen. That might sound stupid, but I don't have any idea how or where to begin with that.lol Not exactly computer savvy; Especially considering I don't have a cutter, printer, etc plugged in often. If you have any further directions to help I would greatly appreciate it!!
Re: svg to jpeg? not the other way around!!
Thank you!!!! I have a toshiba laptop and in order to use print screen, I needed to hold down the FN button for more than a few seconds!! That website helped explain that. Thanks so much!! I am now able to do what I needed too!!

No problem...
Just remember you can use that technique to capture images from the Internet, PDF's, any image you can see on your screen, you can capture and turn into a SVG.

You should have a snipping tool option in your computer program.. You can use that as well..

Windows 7 and and most Vista have the snipping tool, Mac's have something like that as well. XP doesn't usually. But you can use PNG files for your blog images and you can do that right from Inkscape. I usually put a white square behind my design so that my image has a space around it, select all pieces that you want in the image, then use File/Export bitmap. Set your resolution or pixel width and file name, then export it.
If you are working in SCAL2 you can export PNG or BMP. Use File/Export, then select your file format from the drop-down box. HTH

I have inkscape, and windows xp.. not sure if it will work without inkscrape or on other windows or not not,,but what I do is double left click on the SVG file and it will open up the inkscape program,,and just click "FILE " up on top left hand corner scroll down till you see "EXport Bitmap" click that and another window will pop up .Then just click the "EXport Bitmap" on the botton right hand corner..or you can also click draw up on top,,The bitmap will make a path which you can layer on top of another image.
