Jody, did you try to import the image into SCAL yourself? I did it bumping the brightness to 71 to get all the edges to meet.

The trace gives you two images one inside the other but a break apart separates them so you have two. Delete on and your done, or use both one on top of the other

Try it and then if you need help we will be here.

I tried following your instructions, Susan, and proved to myself that I'm hopeless at this!

Jane,

I'm sorry that it didn't work for you. I wrote those quick instructions for the poster who already had the .jpg file so I didn't start at the beginning.

Where did you get lost or what happened and I'll try again to explain how to trace a .jpg image in SCAL. Maybe one of these videos will help.

Thanks, Susan, for reminding me to watch the videos again. I guess it was the ungroup part that I forgot to do. I used the snipping tool to capture that image on the board, and saved it as a jpg. then I went through the steps, but forgot the ungroup part. I'm back home now, and have time to play, so I'll try it again. :)

For bracket shapes, I have gotten to where I pull up a font, type the four brackets, then rotate them and stack as desired, finishing with "blackout" (no shadow). The cut is usually clean and fast using fonts. I didn't see that someone had already met this need when I posted this, but here's another version. If you want more "curve" to your brackets, simply try another bracket with more bow to it and give this technique a shot.

Thanks to everyone. I did do a couple of them, I was just being lazy and was hoping some were aleady done. The idea of using a font bracket is a great one. Will try that too.
