WORDS NOT SHOWING UP IN TITLE

I made this title and saved it in inkscape as an svg. When I import it into SCAL only the sunglasses show up and not the words - any ideas what I am doing wrong - am I missing a step? Please help!!

Bring your design up in Inkscape. Select the object. Click Object, Ungroup. You may have to ungroup twice. You should have boxes around C the glasses L and Dudes. Click on View, Outline so you can see what the cut sees. Now, click Path, Object to Path. Save this file and import into SCAL.

Thank you so much - I had to ungroup everything - I am still learning - Had to play with it a little but, I think I got it to work.
