Cutting my own image.... sort of....

Post by weagle117@yahoo.com »

I am not a newbie although I may sound like one:) I have been using SCAL with my Cricut for quite a while for just cutting monograms & other lettering. I am now trying to cut my own design (actually a University of Alabama A). The image is scanned to my picture file. I emailed Craft Edge Support and was told to go to the file menu & use the Trace Image Option...... For the life of me, I CANNOT FIND A TRACE IMAGE OPTION under the file menu. Does anyone have any idea of how to do this? Or if anyone knows where to find an A for the University of Alabama to download as a font I could go that route, too. I spent half the night looking for one but was unsuccessful. I have a deadline on this project so if ANYONE has any suggestions I'd sure appreciate it. Thanks!

I can understand your frustration. What CE meant by trace image is. You have a .jpg file or a .png image file stored somewhere. So you open SCAL and along the top menu bar the one with the icons click on the word image. You will be taken to another window where you can select the file you have on your computer. The rest is simple as the screen tells you what to do, especially if you've been working with SCAL.

Here's a picture of that menu bar, at least for the latest version of SCA, but all versions have this in some form starting with SCAL2.

I did find the A and made a SCAL2 file.

I love helping those you help themselves. Good luck with your project.

I have a written tutorial on the basics of tracing in SCAL2 here and more detail on adjusting the brightness settings here. HTH

Papasue, what version of SCAL2 do you have? I have 2.029 but the scissors look completely different than yours in the menu bar.
