I downloaded the latest version of SCAL, version 2.012. It clearly says it supports versions 1.51 to 1.54 of the firmware. Since my Cricut Create was version 1.5 out of the box, I downloaded Design Studio from Cricut.com and upgraded my firmware to version 1.54.
However, when I run SCAL, it's telling me that only 1.51 is supported for Cricut Create!! Has anyone seen this?
It clearly says on http://www.craftedge.com/products/products.html, "** In order to cut with this software, you must have Firmware version 1.1 or 1.3x on your Cricut* Personal machine; version 2.1 or 2.3x on your Cricut* Expression machine; version 1.51-1.54 on your Cricut* Create machine; version 2.3x on your Cricut* Cake machine. For more information on checking your firmware version, or updating your firmware version, please see Sure Cuts A Lot FAQ."
What gives? Does anyone know how to downgrade my Cricut Create to 1.51, or how to get SCAL working with 1.54?

I am using the Cricut Create with SCAL with no problems at all.
My Cricut firmware is up to date (version 1.54) and SCAL shows version 1.51 when cutting. In the systems requirements you quoted from the SCAL website it says 'version 1.51-1.54 on your Cricut* Create machine' - meaning, I think, that it will work with Cricut Create firmware versions 1.51 to 1.54 inclusive though it just shows version 1.51 on the cutting screen.
If you are experiencing problems cutting with your Create and SCAL it will probably be something other than the version number showing when cutting which is causing it. Hope you get it sorted soon, I love using my Create and SCAL!
