I'm sorry if this has already been posted, I looked around but didn't see anything:
I was wondering if anyone would know why the following happens when I cut using SCAL. I'm starting to think there's something wrong with my scal settings: Everytime I use my cricut with SCAL 2 there are several areas that "crumble" up with the cut. I've change the setting, pressure, changed to a new blade and still get the paper mess up. When I place the pressure on light or medium I still get the paper pushed up and then I also have problems with it not cutting through all of the design. I don't believe it's my cricut machine itself because it cuts fine when I use a cartridge. I tried resetting to factory defaults on SCAL 2 but none of my settings change and if I uninstall and reinstall everything including my info (SN) are still intact. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: A question
Is your mat too sticky? When I restick my mats, I sometimes have that problem.

Re: A question
I have had this happen with SCAL and also with cartridges. I always thought it has to do with they type of paper you cut and the size of the image. It happens more with thin paper or fairly thick paper on small turns of the blade.

Re: A question
I sometimes have this problem if I use too thin paper or the svg has fine, detailed cuts.

Re: A question
Is your paper under the side rollers? Are you loading it straight?
If your paper is outside the sideline markers it can be bunched up.
The same can happen if the paper is not loaded straight.

Re: A question
Make sure that you eliminate all your variables. So that you use the same piece of paper, mat, blade, blade depth, pressure, speed settings and a similar design off the cart and SCAL . Check and make sure that there is no piece of paper stuck up inside the blade housing, that nothing is hitting or pushing against your mat, and that it is loaded properly.
I find that I the speed settings with SCAL do not vary as widely in comparison to using carts. So often I have to slow it down quite a bit when using SCAL.
I would be lost without SCAL and probably be forced to use a PC
.
Hope you can get everything to work fine.

Re: A question
Usually when that happens is means that your blade isn't sharp enough for that paper. Some papers just don't cut as well as others and need a sharper blade. Even if the blade is new, I would try a different blade.
Re: A question
Take you blade housing out and check to make sure there's no gunk up where the blade goes. Gunk could be preventing your blade from swiveling properly.
