Getting Started...downloading svg files

HELP!!

I just downloaded the trial of SCUT and i got inkscape and I understand the general idea of how this all works, but I'm not understanding the downloading???? I have gotten the svg file downloaded, have unzipped and extracted it but then i'm stuck.. first it was unzipping and making it into a paint shop file?? never used that program so i deleted that thinking if i tried the svg again it would make it into the file i needed??? still didn't work so I guess what I need is someone to explain to me what you do after you extract and how to get these to be the right kind of files and how to get them into scut????
