Butterfly intricate cut for a Card

Post by NELS »

I cut this out 4x6 inches for a card for Mother's Day for dh's MOM.. She loves butterflys. I also cut the humming bird (5x7 inches),that was shared earlier by mariet. I should be getting ready for our trip to Hawaii to see our son and his wife. Only a few more days to go. We will be gone for 10 days so I won't be able to craft or be on the boards. I don't think I will be feeling too bad about that.. We love Hawaii. My son lives on Oahu. We went with them last year to Maui and this year we will be going to Kauai.. I'm so excited...

I uses the same dingbat font that mariet used for her hummingbird. Here is the post and it names the font used . http://forums.surecutsalot.com/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=781 . There are about 10 designs on this Art Nouveau Flowers. I have been downloading fonts and putting them in my fonts folder on my computer but I finally figured out that if I have them in a folder and they are extracted and open in a program I have for my camera ACDSee that they show up as a font in my Sure Cuts A Lot font viewer. I hope this helps doing it this way and not putting them in my font folder on my Control Panel..

Thanks.. the settings my cricut is on all the time is 3 and 5 for the left side controls. I use SCAL and sometimes CDS and hardly ever just cut with the cartridges only. On this butterfly cut I put it on low speed on the SCAL preference setting not min which is the slowest speed. I cut the hummingbird 5x7 design at the fastest speed with 1 cut, because that is where I usually have it set. It cut ok but not perfect, as that was my first cut. So when I cut the butterfly I changed the speed and I also did a multicut of 2 because I was cutting it smaller 4x6 size and wanted it to be perfect. Sorry this is so long but hope it helps others who are considering cutting this type of design. You also have to make sure your paper is stuck to the mat so it doesn't shift the paper.
