Dingbat

I have downloaded and installed a few dingbats in my font folder.

but I can't see any of them in Inkscape, including the standards, like webdings and wingdings.

I can see and use the dingbats in Word.

I am using Windows XP.

any thoughts on why I can't see or use them in inkscape?

doing some searching the internet for the reason, and it seems this is a know problem, that has never been fixed since the first question I found was from 2004.

So some dingbats will work, some may not.

When I have problems with fonts not showing in INK, I usually create whatever I am trying to make in a paint program (I sometimes use the free program Paint), save as a bitmap and then open in INK and trace. A few extra steps but it gets the job done.
