trace bitmap and dingbats

Post by dawnlucille »

I am trying to touch up a dingbat. Here are some problems I am having.

In trying to trace bitmap:
~I get the image I want to appear on the screen.
~I select that image and would like to trace bitmap. However, when the window pops up to adjust the brightness, edge, color etc. I am unable to update the image. Also, when I hit the OK button, nothing happens. I have to close the box by hitting the X in the top right corner. Nothing happens to my image.

In trying to adjust nodes of my image:
~When I select the image and hit the nodes button, nothing happens. However, when the image is in outline, I am able to adjust the nodes. When trying to connect two lines in outline mode, the lines just overlap and then I am unable to look at the whole image in a normal mode (how my image started but with my edits).

I am not very good with this program yet so any please keep answers simple.

In working with dingbats (fonts) made in Inscape, you don't trace the design. Trace Bitmap is only for images. Dingbats are fonts and you select the shape, then Path>Object to Path. Then select the nodes tool and your nodes will show so you can manipulate them.

I don't know about the nodes in outline mode because until you change it to a path, there should not be any nodes.
