Snow Leopard OS

Post by jsnstarprncss »

I just upgraded to Snow Leopard today and went to open inkscape/SVG's... nothing. I don't know if I need a different version or if they haven't updated it. If that's the case I'll keep using VMware Fusion (my Windows) to do Inkscape but, just wondering if anyone else had figured anything out :) thanks!

I'M REALLY GETTING FRUSTRATED WITH SCAL AND MAC. I JUST TRIED TO START WORKING WITH AGAIN TODAY, AND IT DOES THE ACTIVATE THING WITH ME. I'VE EMAILED THEM, BUT IT'S SATURDAY.
I LIKE THE PROGRAM, BUT IF THINGS ARE NOT FIXED QUICKLY, I'M READY FOR A REFUND. I'M TIRED OF WAITING FOR THEM TO FIX THE BUGS.

I also upgraded and had problems with Inkscape. I downloaded the newer Inkscape version for Mac and it is woking just fine. Its a Beta version, but no problems so far. As far as SCAL an Snow Leopard, just send the support team your information, and they will reset the license, they had mine done within the hour.

I posted somewhere else that I run Fusion to use SCAL (which is like bootcamp but I don't have to shut down my laptop and restart in Windows...I can run it WITH my Mac OS open). I have my SCAL and inkscape on Fusion, but sometimes I like to design on my Mac side--however, I have NEVER been able to cut, without restarting my cricut after each cut, with my Mac side.

This program is awesome. It was totally worth the money to me, but because I decided that running PC's was not really an option for me only 3 months after purchasing SCAL, I found out that the program isn't really Mac friendly. They still don't have a SCAL2 update for Mac out yet. I know that not everyone uses one or the other, but I don't think that anything should have been released for PC until Mac was (1) fixed from SCAL1, and/or (2) SCAL2 was available to both PC's and Mac's.

I completely understand anyone's frustrations because if you have a Mac for the same reasons I do, I don't think it's fair that CraftEdge sides with PC (programming). I'm a firm believer that you get way you pay for--there's a reason I paid $2,000 for a Mac laptop!!

After all this rant, I have to say that I updated Inkscape and it's fine now, but again, I refuse to reset my cricut after every cut and still use Fusion for that reason. Am I happy with that? Nah, but it'll do for now...I'm taking my hubby's PC laptop, after he gets his Mac, and using it strictly for SCAL!

My last thing is the SCAL2 program that you have to pay for--I don't find it really fair (it's not like we're upgrading an operating system, we're upgrading software--and I don't know a lot of software companies that make you pay for an upgrade) so I refuse to buy it (right now). I would much rather keep SCAL1 and use inkscape to separate things...instead of pay for it. If in the future (and I mean like 5 years from now) they have added something that makes me go "Oh I've GOT to have it", I will then buy it.

If you guys need any help with anything, please let me know! I hope that they get their "act" together soon too.
