importing svg created in inkscape into scal

I am having trouble putting my svg files created in inkscape into my SCAL program. Every I use the "import SVG file" I get a huge box without the file in it. I am not sure why this is happening. Anyone else have this problem? I'm a newbie to this program and am still trying to learn its details.

Sounds like a few steps were left out in Inkscape. Open it back up in Inkscape and go to view and outline mode. If you see a red x and nothing else it isn't a svg file. Need to do more steps. The next steps depends on if it is fonts or jpg/png/bmp
