Please help fast!

I am trying to create a logo for a family reunion that is coming up. I plan on making T shirts. I am wanting to put some of the words on an ellipse, just using the ellipse as a guide to place the words on a path. I cannot get anything to go right with it, words are upside down so I flip and rotate, and they look terrible. when I delete the ellipse, all the lettering straightens back out. What can I do to fix these issues?

Could you make your letters in Word? And then trace them in SCAL 2?

I think I have it figured out, it took a little time, but I placed the letters and turned them one by one...so far it looks good!
