Cricut update? Does it include a firmware update?

I also interested when we can update SCAL firmware and will DS block the software.

There is no firmware update, in fact you don't even need to update CDS, you can just do a font library update assuming you have the latest version of CDS. (dec. '08 I think)

On Cricut.com it says to see the new cartridges (lifes a beach, spongebob, etc) you have to UNINSTALL and REINSTALL CDS. The font update is different.

Can we do this or will SCAL not work??

Mominct,
Try to do the font update only. Save to your hard drive, do not try to open directly as that doesn't work. The font updater will check your version of CDS and tell you whether you have the latest version of CDS or not and if you do, then it will install the font update and you are all done. If not, it will tell you to update CDS, but that is still the Dec 08 version of CDS that works with the latest version of SCAL. Either way you are OK, but if you are nervous about it you can always stop if the font update alone does not work.
