Can anyone help me ? - solved, thanks raewyn64

Post by Aussie Alli »

I posted in tutorials, probably the wrong place, here is the link:

http://forums.surecutsalot.com/viewtopi ... =18&t=5637

I need help with a rainbow album file. I'm willing to share the file with anyone who helps me (it is a file I paid for, and i'm allowed to DL it five times, i've only DL it once)

TIA to anyone who can help me! :?: :?: :?:

Re: Can anyone help me with an SVG problem?

Post by raewyn64 »

without seeing the svg file the first thing that comes to mind is that if you view it Inkscape there might be another very small object way over in one side of it.
So when all the pieces are combined it is picking up that extra bit and so making the overall image larger than what it really is.
Then when you import it into SCAL it needs heaps of the mat without it looking like anyhting is there.
I don't think I have explained that very well, but am happy to have a look at it if you like to see if that is the problem.

Thank you, I think you are right. Problem is, is the object is their copyright, which i cannot delete. Seems silly, because it shows in the preview that it is going to cut..why would i want to cut that?? Any ideas how to delete it? I did buy this file, so i'm not doing anything dodgy ;)

Can you open it in Inkscape?
If so try this.
Click on the image and you should see a box show up around it
Then try Object - Ungroup and see if all the pieces then get their own little boxes. If so click out of it anywhere so to remove all teh little boxes then go to the piece you don't want, select it and delete it.
Then go to Edit - Select All
Then Path - Combine then save
See if that works for you

The copyright doesn't show up in Inkscape, only in SCAL. :?

In Inkscape go to the very bottom of the screen and you will see a size % - make that quite small and click on the image and see if you can see all the edges of the box that will show up around it.
Keep shrinking until you can see all the edges and the copyright should be in the far corner of the box.
Any luck there?
