Help-Creativity for a Rocking Chair

Post by Pvermillion »

Ok,everyone on here is so creative...I need some serious last minute help. We just bought my soon to be 80 year old mother-in-law a rocking chair for her up-coming birthday this Saturday. I have looked for some type of rub-on decals to dress it up a little - what i really wanted was something that said "mom - with some detaileds such as flowers or something" or a saying about Moms that is about 3 to 4 inches high - and then something that says Grandma for the lower part of the rocking chair - maybe with a saying as well. Of course, I couldn't find anything like this. I really need some suggestions and some creativity on this one - any help or work of art would be so greatly appreciated!!

If you can't find a rub on, what about using inkscape to design and scal to cut a beautiful font. Mom etc. out of milar, the kind they use for quilting stencils. You can make beautiful stencils with a couple of jars of stencil cream and a stubbed stencil brush and you can have something really nice. I have used stencils before and it is easier to use a low tack spray adhesive to hold the stencil in place while applying the colors. :)
