Hello,
I just heard a terrible rumor on the Cricut MB and I quote
"Anyone else heard about scal getting "shut down"?? Was talking with one of there reps on the phone and she said they had been getting e-mails from Cricuts owner company asking them to stop selling the software as it was infringing on there copy writes. "
I am hoping this is a terrible rumor as this is an awesome program. It guess it's just Provo trying to reap as much money as they can out of us trying to force us to buy their expensive carts.
Terrible rumor? I hope so!

I would imagine that PC has been sending these emails since SCAL first came out. This is standard procedure for companies and it doesn't necessarily mean anything. A real threat wouldn't come by email anyway, but by certified mail.

Oh gee willickers, here we go again, Provocraft have really got tickets on themselves and I am beginning to wonder just how much they pay their "faves" to get on their message boards and start these ridiculous rumours, which in turn always end up over here causing the usual aggravation.
I wouldn't lose a wink of sleep over any of it quite frankly

Sounds fishy to me. I mean really, a "rep" of SCAL telling a customer that they are receiving emails from Provo Craft? Why on earth would a rep tell a customer that???? Yes, sounds like hogwash to me!
Re: Terrible rumor? I hope so!
Does SCAL even have a phone number with reps to talk to?
I bet this is just some from the inside or a jealous cricut user. I wouldn't worry about it. I talked to a Cricut tech not to long ago who told me that technically, SCAL doesn't break any rules. Its just a software program that was written by a great programmer who knows how to program and reverse engineer. Software is software and if you just so happen to connect a cricut to your computer while using the software, well whoop dee doo.
Not sweating here...

They need to remember what happened to Bill Gates when he tried to put windows just on machines he wanted to. Got into real big law suit and the courts made him build his software to share with others. Now you can use it with MAC. If someone as big as Bill Gates gets it I'm sure PC woudn't have a leg to stand. Besides the fact that they can't tell you what to put on your computers, this is just a scare tactic. On the other hand the new machines coming out may have a block to scal. But that can easily be fixed just like the last. It would behoove them to buy out scal, he's a lot smarter then their designers anyway and it could make both rich.

I really feel this is a crock! Provo Craft needs to worry about other things other than Scal. Their customer service really sucks! They treat their customers like crap! And it wouldn't really surpise me if they did pay their "favorites" to start crap like that. I am also on the Cricut forums and seems to me that some of the posters on that board know ALOT more information than some of the others, information I feel can only come from the inside.
