cricut cutting slow on SCAL

For some of the things I have imported to scal, my cricut goes so slow cutting it out. They aren't extraordinary cuts or anything, so not sure why its cutting so slow. My cricut speed is on high and in scal my cutting speed is on high. Any suggestions?

Cutting in SCAL is often slow even if you have speed set to high in the program.

SVG files are made up of nodes, to cut the nodes SCAL must read them IF theres plenty of nodes especially with svgs that people have often converted from other formats it slows the machine down.

My Cricut makes a difference noise when cutting in SCAL then when cutting from a Cartridge.

There are a couple of things you can check. First, see what your Cut Speed setting is in Edit -> Preferences, General tab. Second, you can check the nodes on SVG files in Inkscape. Open the file in Inkscape, click on the pointed arrow (second from the top on the left panel) and click on your object. The little squares and dots are nodes. The nodes are mathematical magic that tells software reading SVG file what the design shape is (that's my scientific explanation anyway). If there are a lot of those square and dot nodes you can reduce them. Click Object -> Simplify. The number of nodes will reduce. Save the file as a different file name so that you retain the original should the new file not suite your need. Try importing your new file into SCAL and cut. You might try cutting on scrap paper first to make sure you retain the detail in the graphic. Reducing nodes, or simplifying, can impact the resulting cut. If the end result is not as sharp as you would like, then you might be stuck with the original file that has all nodes. You can manually delete nodes, but you need to be aware of what you are doing. There may be a tutorial or two on this forum under Inkscape -> Tutorials that could help you selecting which nodes to remove. HTH

Thankyou, Wow, there were alot of nodes. I simplified them, thanks so much. JUst have to try cutting now.
