SCAL and PDDU

I really love the PDDU cartridge (but I don't have it yet). I was wondering, can you cut images like what's on the PDDU cart and where would you get images like that?

I saw something similar on here somewhere... it wouldn't be as easy or as detailed as just having the cartridge but you could do it...

In cases like that where there are a lot of intricate cuts and designs, I'd be more inclined to just buy the cartridge... seems easier to me.

Do a search for paper dolls, there are a couple of posts that might be of interst (SCAL compatible paper doll program and Looking for a cute ghost...) Try a search of the internet for "paper doll svg" I found quite a few things there (some were free). There are also online stores that sell patterns.

You can go to this web site and download the PDDU handbook . I print out the page I want, scan and edit the image I want, take it to Inkscape and turn it into an SVG file, import it into SCAL and cut. Cheaper than buying a cartridge and I like the practice I get in Inkscape.

You can actually do the same thing without printing and scanning. I have downloaded entire handbooks from the above site that you mentioned...they are saved as PDF files. Then, open up Inkscape and it will ask which page you want to import (it will allow you to flip through the pages to get the right one) Pick the page then hit "import" or "ok" i don't remember which one. Then, that entire page will open in inkscape. Then follow these directions to get the part that you want:

A. Use the node tool and click on an area of the graphic, nodes will appear, then use the select tool. You should see a dotted box form around the object to show it is selected. Keep it selected
B. Go to edit copy
C. Go to file, open default page, now you will have two pages to work with.
D. On the newly 2nd default page paste the copy.
E. Once you have your image on the new page go up to PATH>OBJECT TO PATH Then save as SVG

The above directions were from an older posting awhile back. I use them regularly, thanks to whoever figured it out
