Font name changing in Inkscape

Hi,

I'm trying to create a title using a font I have installed on my computer. I have no problem using this font in other programs including SCAL but I have problems in Inkscape. I choose the font from the dropdown list and then I start to type and immediately the name in the dropdown list changes and what is typed is not in the font I want. If it makes a difference, the font I am trying to use is Walt Disney Script v4.1 and when I start to type, it changes to Walt Disney Script v4.01000 and there is a warning beside it saying that that font isn't installed. (Which of course it isn,'t because it changed names from the one that is installed.)

I hope somebody has experienced something like this because I've tried everything I can think of and it is driving me crazy!!

I had that problem as well.
Now to change text theres a T up in the top menu click on that and you can change the font.

You can also set which font you want as a default bottom left hand corner will be able to be clicked on.

Hi,

I tried that - when I get the text box, I change it to the font from the dropdown list and in the preview at the bottom of that box, it is correct but as soon as I hit the apply button it changes to the default inkscape font.

you also have to have the text tool selected I just found

I didn't think of that - I thought it might work.... but then I tried it and it is just doing the same thing. Changing to the font it was changing to before.

I think maybe it has something to do with the name of the font. I downloaded it and left the name as it was. Maybe because the name of it has a decimal in it? Is there a way to change the internal name of a font? Or is that something that doesn't make any difference at all?

I had this problem before and the answer is on this mssg board somewhere.

You have to open the Text box, select your desired Font, and lower left corner Set as Default. That is the only way it will take it. Then when you do a diff font, you will have to set it as default. HTH

Hi,

Thank you for these replies. I've tried them and they don't work. I've made the font default and it just changes back. The preview in the text box shows up as being the font it should be but as soon as I click apply, it changes back to another font.

Has anybody used the font Walt Disney Script v4.1 in inkscape? It works fine in every other program I've used it in but inkscape.

Does the font have numbers in the name of the file? If it does, you might try changing the name of the font so it doesn't have any numbers.
