Is DS worth keeping?

Post by vh678 »

I just got DS for Christmas, and I don't know if I would really use it too much. I use my SCAL ALL the time, but I also have 10 carts. What's the benefit of having DS? Would it be worth it to keep it or should I ask for the gift receipt and exchange it for something else? TIA!

For one thing DS lets you weld, skew and probably do other things with the fonts and objects on the cartridges. SCAL cannot read the cartridges.

If you have 10 cartridges, I would suggest keeping DS to help you make better use of the cartridges.

I have it and hardly use it but there is that rare time when I want to weld letters from one of the cartridges and then I'm glad I have it.

Of course if you add Inkscape, a free program, you can always use the "Union function" and it will weld the fonts/dings. I use both CDS and Scal but if you to make your own svg files from line drawings you are unlimited to what you can do and most likely you wont be buying as many cartidges!
