"SOLVED" Help please! Files won't open in SCAL v2

I haven't been on here in a long time - life happens
Anyway, I'm back and wanting to cut some files for my cards. I purchased a lot of files from various companies but none of them will open.
I have a new laptop and Craft Edge has helped me reload SCAL on it. All of my files are backed up on an external hard drive. When I try to open them from SCAL I get a message that says "file not found".
When I look at the file from the external hard drive it shows all the .svg files have an Internet Explorer icon. When I click on them it opens in Internet Explorer and shows all the cutting pieces. Now what? Why is it doing this? I'm lost!

Any idea what I need to do to get them working? the file does show .svg as the extention.

The fact that there is an Explorer symbol there may be making it default to the web browser when opening. It just seems to you might not have backed up your files in the correct format and that will be a problem.

Are there another set of files on your hard drive without the Explorer symbol?
Do you have any other software, such as Inkscape (which is a free download) or Adobe Illustrator where you can try to open the .svg directly into that software then save again as the straight .svg (don't know if it will work or not).

I'm not coming up with any other ideas and perhaps someone else has some thoughts on this.

But my suggestion is: are you trying to OPEN the svg files? I think you need to IMPORT svg files.... I haven't used SCAL in a long time, so I may be a bit rusty myself.
