I messed up and need help if any is available
Well im new to SCAL2 and circut. I think i totally messed up and im pretty bummed out about it. I did an update on my machine and it updated to 1.4 and now SCAL2 wont even work. I have never even tried it before i did the update because i didnt know what i was doing. And well yay me....i messed up. UGH. Im pretty bummed out. Can anyone help me in downgrading the firmware update that i did on the machine so that it will be compatable with either SCAL or SCAL2.

I'm sure there was a post on here about doing this, I think you had to use cricut software and it let you select which firmware to use. after that, you just don't upgrade it again.
hopefully someone will find it as I tried and not getting anything.... if I do, I'll post

Did a search to see if I could find the "Design Studio " software at Cricut's site. I can't locate their original download, but that is what can possibly help you. I found other "download sites" but none I trust posting here.
As of April 2013, Cricut is no longer providing updates to the Design Studio software, which makes me think that is why the download is no longer available on their on their site.
Do you have the original Design Studio trial version that you would have originally used to update your firmware. If so, that is what you need. You only need the trial version.

I'm in the same predicament Sarah except I can cut a few things but more often than not its stops cutting halfway through

Sadly we are left with a piece of useless software that we paid good money for

Or you might say you are left with a useless Cricut Expression that you paid even more money for. SCAL still lives on, quite simply Provocraft wants you to buy their expensive cartridges and their own limited feature software.
For me, decided I wasn't going to continue to throw good money on top of bad when with what I would pay for a few cartridges I can have a much better machine and more feature and creativity.

the only "good" to come out of this is, once you dump the crapcut and buy a new machine that you tell everyone who will listen that those machines are useless unless you want to buy carts that limit your design ideas to what others think you should do. so others can research better and make a more informed choice
if the crapcut is new, you might be able to return it for a refund. if not, maybe ebay but then there are possibly quite a few on there

Congratulations on your new machine. Also, since you own SCAL2 it's a free upgrade to SCAL3. http://www.craftedge.com/purchase/craft ... grade3.php
