I have used the two attached files numerous times on my E, cut through SCAL1. But today, I cannot get either file to work. I have tried adjusting the one in Inkscape and resaving as a plain SVG (which has worked before with other files), but it is not working today. When I try to cut, I get the error message that SCAL has stopped working. I have tried all that I know to try from this happening before with other files and am getting nowhere. If anyone can check the files and tell me if there is something I am missing or if there is another way to try that I haven't yet, I'm all ears.
Thanks!

Re: SCAL keeps shutting down
Oh, and I have shut down my computer and re-booted it, just in case. It didn't work either. Neither did shutting down my E and trying again nor shutting down SCAL. Forgot to mention that.

Re: SCAL keeps shutting down
Is your problem just with these two files or any svg/scut file? It may be your computer. You could try and reinstall SCAL or whatever you do with WIN drivers etc.
I have no idea whether CE can help since SCAL1 has been long gone and not supported on the E anymore. I don't even know whether you can still upgrade to SCAL2, you'd have to send an email to. support@craftedge.com and explore the options with them.
Good Luck.

Re: SCAL keeps shutting down
It seems to be just these two files. I have avoided upgrading because I can't risk losing the communication between my E and SCAL. Just really frustrated cos I've had this issue before with other files and could fix it, neither of these files will work.

I don't believe there is a free upgrade from SCAL 1 to SCAL 2, like there is a free upgrade from SCAL 2 to SCAL 3. Sorry.

Re: SCAL keeps shutting down
I noticed that the svg file has a Group in it. SCAL1 usually doesn't like Object/Group. You might try opening it in Inkscape and ungrouping it. Some other things to try are using Path/Union after you Ungroup or copy/pasting the artwork into a new file (possibly using the Path/Union after you paste). Let us know if any of these things work.
Also, what OS is your computer and which model Cricut do you have? What version of SCAL1 too, though I'm not sure if that can be updated even if it isn't the last SCAL1 version.

Thanks, Heather. I thought I caught all of the groups, but will go back and check on the one you saw.HeatherM wrote:I noticed that the svg file has a Group in it. I have Windows 7 and SCAL 1.1 with the original CE. It's too late for me to do any updating on SCAL (or else lose communication with my E) and I'm ok with that. Everything I do is pretty basic and SCAL1 handles it well.
I'll try your suggestions, Heather, and report back after. Thanks again!
