Are you talking the actual machine Version 3.0 or the ECAL software version 1.003?

No the machine version 3.0

I copied this from Sizzix http://www.sizzix.com/shop/eclips?utm_s ... 4&v=844211

ABOUT SIZZIX ECLIPS
The craft-friendly e-cutter just got friendlier. With the release of the Sizzix eclips Electronic Shape-Cutting Machine Version 3 comes an exciting new feature called Stamp2Cut which allows for the quickest and easiest cuts around Tim Holtz Stampers Anonymous stamped images. Forget complicated cutting with scissors. Now you can cut multiples of a stamped shape with electronic precision. For the most accurate registration, each design includes a standard cutting template with original, solid, shadow and pieces (on selected designs). You can access this feature with Tim Holtz® Alterations™ Stamp2Cut™ cartridges for the eclips.

Apparently there was update issued in March to 3.0. I don't think I updated mine yet, but probably will. Didn't know it was out there so thank you for the post. Here is what it says the update is for:

Version 3.1, released March 5, 2012

Stamp2Cut feature allows for the quickest and easiest cuts around Tim Holtz Stampers Anonymous stamped images
Improved Center Point functionality with alphabets
Minor bug fixes

And here is a link to get the update:

Sandy, this only applies to users of cartridges right? I've read it and reread the notice and that is what it appears to be. This is so you can use the Tim Holtz package for cutting around stamps or am I missing something?

thanks,

I checked with CraftEdge about updating your sizzix eclips to the new 3 version to ensure that it would not impact ecal. Just in case you also had this question.
Hi Susan
It is ok to update and does not impact the software.
The updates are for the controller only which adds extra functionality to the software that is on the controller.

Also because we have a close relationship with Sizzix, we would probably work out any issues prior to any release of any updates that might have an impact on eCAL.

Sincerely

Thank you for getting that added update. I too thought it was for the Tim Holtz cartridges.

I received my Eclips at the beginning of March and have not even tried the controller. Only use it with ECAL. Guess I can pass on the upgrade!
