Re-Nu Kit to refurbish stickiness on mats

Post by sstehman »

Someone had a prior post about this product "Re-Nu Kit" to re-stick your mats. I bought some in January and just now needed to re-stick my eClips mats and this product works very nicely.

To prepare my old mats, I put Goo Gone on the mat and then used the small straight edge that comes with the Re-Nut kit to spread the coat evenly. I let it set for a little bit (didn't time it but probably about 15 minutes).

Then I tried a scrungie to clean and was more work than what I wanted, but.....discovered some SOS pads (with soap) that I've probably had forever and used them). THEY WORKED GREAT. It didn't take me very long to have a nice and clean mat.

Rinsed off and dried the mat good.

Just put the Re-Nu Kit paper on and tried a cut of something intricate to see how it worked and you can tell by the picture there was no problem there.

I bought mine from That's Scrap Inc. Was 15.49 with shipping included and have enough to do 4 mats.

thanks for the info on cleaning the mat, however you can buy basting spray from walmart for $8.00 or less and it works great to, or any spray that says repositionable or non permanent.

Yep....there are a bunch of posts on the forum on a lot of ways. Just thought I'd give this a try and ordered it and wanted to give an update on how it worked with just the name of the product in the subject so others could find it easily. I tried another spray one time, can't remember which one it was any more, and got a overly sticky mat and more mess, so wanted to test this one out.

One of the lovely files contributed by forum members. That is why I didn't post the file.....its not mine. Sigh (someday maybe I will be able to create like this.)

I too have used and like these sheets. I in fact did not even clean my mat before I used one of the sheets. I had a Silhoutte SD mat that had lost its stick so I used one of the sheets....actually I used some of one of the sheets because they are rather large. Good thing with these are that there is no dry time. You simply put them on by the directions and you are ready to use. I have tried these and the Zig (spelling?) glue thing where you coat the whole shee with the glue stuff and let it dry. This worked okay but there was a wait time.

Ok Sandy, what am I doing wrong? I got the Re-Nu Kit and followed the piece of paper with directions. I already had cleaned my mats. I have tried one so far with the kit and it does absolutely nothing but have the loose little dots that move all over my mat. I removed the paper liner. I applied the sheet to the mat with adhesive dots down. I squeeged with the applicator that came with it and removed top piece. Not sticky whatsoever. I am so bummed about these!

I also did one mat with the Aleene's Tack it over and over and I haven't tried it yet but to put one piece of 12 x 12 scrap paper on it and it seemed to stick wonderfully.

Tell me any hints on the Re-Nu Kit, I must be doing something wrong but can't figure out what it is. :(
