Hi there!
Hoping someone here can help me out! I'm on SCAL version 2.044, cutting with a Cricut Expression with the correct firmware to run this program. I'm designing in Illustrator. I create my needed shape, save as SVG and import into SCAL. Specifically, I 'm cutting out a scalloped edge, 3" x 3" square.
The shape doesn't cut out TERRIBLY, but it's still not as good as I'd like - all of the 'scallops' look like they're leaning a little bit to the left or the right, instead of being perfectly half round. Not sure if anyone knows what might be causing this? The size of the scallops doesn't change anything - I've tried them in a range of sizes and no matter how small or large, they always lean a bit! I've checked my machine, my blade is in correctly and I don't have any issues cutting other shapes. Just circles and scallops!
Any help is appreciated!!!
Thank you!
~Jennifer
Help with scalloped shapes
Re: Help with scalloped shapes
Under edit and preferences, there is a setting for illustrator or inkscape....this might help.

Re: Help with scalloped shapes
Thank you for your suggestion... I tried it just now and it was set to Illustrator. I tried changing some of the other settings in Preferences and so far, no change.
Re: Help with scalloped shapes
Try searching this question with certain key words...I know there was discussion about it before for those that look for really good outcomes... precision...which you probably won't ever get with the machine being used...that is what I recall. Oh, maybe see if you can design it in SCAL to see if it is better. I think it is just the nature of the cutter.

Re: Help with scalloped shapes
I also did some Google-ing, and have found that it's just the Cricut Expression. Apparently it's trash at cutting circles and scalloped shapes
Guess it's time for a new cutter! Wondering if there are any Black Cat Cougar users on here? I'm interested but there doesn't seem to be anywhere near me to see a demo.
