Hi! Can anyone please tell me how to change the top and bottom of a letter to be a score instead of a cut? I am trying to make a pop up card with words but it keeps cutting the entire letter out... thereby no pop up!
Thanks!

Re: Please help with Score and pop up
Hi, it depends on what version of SCAL/eCAL you are using. Please supply mrre info on your software.

Re: Please help with Score and pop up
Yes, I can get it to score. What I can't do is break up parts of a letter with score and cut lines. I am trying to do a "i(heart)u" as a pop up, I need the top of the I and the bottom of the I to be scored and the sides cut. I also need the top of u and the bottom of the u to score while the sides cut. Any ideas?
Thanks
Thanks

H'm, looked at a popup card I downloaded recently, not sure if SCAL has those design capabilities. You can do something like the attached pic though. Maybe make it a lining for the card base. Not saying you can't do more/better than this even with SCAL, but this was all I could come up with at 2AM, lol. Try searching for popup cards on here, too. I know they have been discussed a time or two in the past.
Oh, I forgot to explain what I did. Weld shapes together, than add some straight lines where you want folds and change to perforated, or whatever you prefer.

Here is a Boo! popup card that Pasta designed. She would be the person to ask!

Re: Please help with Score and pop up
I usually take all of my svg files that have cut/dashed lines into Illustrator. Then I make a new layer and call it "scores". Then I make a straight line on top of the perf/dashed lines (not all the way to the edge, but just to the last of the dashed lines on each edge of each section.) I do this to all of the dashed lines. Then I go down into the layers and find all of the dashed lines that I just covered with straight lines and delete them. I save the entire file with an extension (I usually put _scored), so the file has the same name but I know that I have put in my score lines.
Then, when I open it in eCAL, I go into the layers window and highlight the scored layer that I added in Illustrator. I change that layer to 'score' in the appearance window under cut line type. Then I cut it with the eclips and the score lines are nice and clean for you.
It takes a few minutes, but it's worth it because once it's actually cutting, it's so much faster. And, once you do it, you have it for the future. And, it makes your cuts so much cleaner to not have the dashed stressed marks on all of your seams.
Hope that helps!
