wire binding

Post by raewyn64 »

Hi
For those of you who are making word books, are you wire binding yours? I just got one done at a stationery shop and it looks great.
If you are do you have your own machine and if so what is it?
Just wondering it I need (another) new toy!

I make books all of the time - I have made several cook books and I have a "Bind It All" tool..... I would not trade it or be without it.

I have seen the word books bound with ribbon and with "O" rings but I prefer them if they are bound with the Bind It All Wires. It just looks so much nicer.

I have only made one book and I used the Bind It All. PC introduced a thermal binding machine at CHA I think. In the latest survey, they included a demo of the machine at work...looks interesting but I think I will stick with the BIA

I had a little look at the bind it all and it looks like it is the tool to have (ha ha).
It doesn't look very wide though - does it only bind a certain width of paper?
And I have to agree lowcarbgirl that the first book I made I used ribon through two holes and that was ok but I had to make fold lines in each page for them to open, then I got some rings but haven't used them - got to thinking they might be too big and then tried this wire binding yesterday and am very sold on it - really made my word book look great. How far until Christmas ha ha

A thought I had is that if you don't want to spend money on a binding machine of some kind, I would think you could go to Kinko's or a place like that and have them bind it. Then, you're only paying on a as needed basis. If you only need a book or two, that might be a good way to go. If you want to make a lot of books, maybe buying something would be the cheaper way in the long run. Just food for thought.

Yes Wreed you are right I probably will go to the stationery stores and get them to bind them for a while - unless I start making lots. (I am in New Zealand so assume Kinko's is like a stationery/office products store?)

Plus it isn't just the machine to buy it is the wire bindings themselves. This one I got done yesterday only cost me $2 to get done but the machine would cost me $130.00 plus I don't know how mucht he wire is so it would take a few to get my money back on the machine.

Yes, Kinkos is like a copying service store, and is now owned by Federal Express (or vice-versa). Fed Ex is a shipping company with overnight deliveries being their specialty.

My friend has the bind it all and loves it. I know she got it at www.stampinscrapin.com and was very, very pleased with the service and the prices and the shipping. She said they only change actual shipping.

Hi! I also have a bind it all and LOVE it!! It looks like a small machine, but it can cut through alot of different materials (even cd's) and it has a continuous feature that allows you to do as long of a book as you want. :) You are not limited at all with the bind it all. Check out the Zutter website or even Youtube for some videos to demonstrate. You will be impressed! I buy my supplies at Bonnies Best online...she has great prices and is SUPER fast with shipping. Her customer service can't be beat either!

Have fun! I am SO happy I bought that machine.
