I am trying to see what I could do in inkscape. So I was watching some tutorials on you tube for how to make a waterfall card. Then I thought about how I could have a template all ready in SCAL and just print off the page when I wanted to make a card instead of cutting out each piece individually. So I have figured out how to make all the shapes I need and they are the right sizes. Now the one at the bottom of the page that is 2 x 9 needs some score lines at 2", 2 3/4", 3 1/2", and 4 1/4". How can I add those at the right places with just a minimum amount of score lines? When I click on the shape the ruler isn't in inches, can I change that? I am pretty sure I know how to add the actual dashed lines but can't figure out how to see the measurement.
Once I have them in, is there any other things I have to do so it will actually cut in SCAL, I haven't tried yet.

Well, I actually figured out how to change the ruler. So I guess now I just need to know if there is anything special I have to do to each shape so that it cuts in SCAL. I have added what I think are score lines. Am I supposed to just import it into SCAL now?

Re: really have no idea what I am doing in inkscape
Well I just imported it into SCAL, I made this on a 12 x 12 sheet in inscape. But when it imported to SCAL and I changed it to W:12.00 the H:11.26 should be fine. BUT when I look at it the right side is hanging off the page by at least 1/2 inch. All the squares are the right measurements so I don't want to resize it but why is it hanging off the page?

If you want the score "lines" to be cut, you will need to select the line and execute path>stroke to path. Next, using the shift key, select both your rectangle and the score line, then execute path>difference. Make sure though, that your score line is the top most object. Repeat these steps for each score line. Other than that everything looks pretty good to me. Good job!

Re: really have no idea what I am doing in inkscape
Thank you so much. What about the sizing problem when imported into scal?
Re: really have no idea what I am doing in inkscape
I think what the problem is, is this. The ruler in scal is 12 X 12, but then there is the dotted line inside that. THat is what I always line up with. Why is that Line there? Can I just line it up with the actual 12 X12 line? Will it cut in that extra space?

Now I added score lines to the big rectangle (card) but when I cut it they weren't quite in the right spot. How do I get rid of them or move the whole line?

You move the whole line in Inkscape. If Inkscape says they are in one place, but they are coming out somewhere else in SCAL, you might need to change the "dots per inch" setting in SCAL - I forget where it is right now, somewhere in the Preferences. That could be throwing your scaling off a bit.mlcadieux wrote:Now I added score lines to the big rectangle (card) but when I cut it they weren't quite in the right spot. If you just want to get rid of the lines, you'll have to do some more work in Inkscape because if everything is on one layer and in one group in SCAL, I don't believe you can select the separate pieces. What I like to do is put score lines in a separate layer. Then in SCAL you can turn the layer on and off, and I think you can move it around on the page.
