How exactly does this work?

Post by brmerry »

Okay, so I read the tutorial and the general information. I have a new Cricut Expressions machine and 4 different cartridges, but would like to be able to use more fonts on the machine. If I am understanding this correctly, Craft Edge offers a software program that allows you to create words for your Cricut using different downloadable fonts. But how do you actually get the info from your computer to your Cricut? Do you just save it on a Zip Drive? Sorry, I'm not hugely computer savvy, but am very interested in buying the program. Any help would be appreciated!

To get the file from your computer to your Cricut, you use a USB cable to connect the two. Sure Cuts a Lot runs the Cricut just like the cartridges do as long as the Cricut is connected to the computer. When you don't feel like using the computer for cutting, you can disconnect it and use cartridges like before.

I really feel that this software opens up a world of possibilities while still letting us use the pre-designed artwork on the cartridges. It's fantastic!

You will have to update your firmware for the Cricut E machine through the Design Studio software developed by PC. There used to be a free download but that is the first step. After the firmware upgrade to 2.1, you will be able to use the SCAL software to cut fonts and .svg files from your computer.
