Hi, It's been a very long time since I used my Cricut with SCAL.. I had another cutter the wishblade and had been playing around with that.. Now I want to use the SCAL again with my cricut and I don't know what I'm doing wrong.. I have the first version of scal..
I plugged it in into a usb port( the main port), turned on the cricut and chose my image to cut, when I go to cut it keeps saying cricut is not turned on.. it is, so I don't know what the problem can be.. Can anyone help please
Thanks
Robyn

Double check that both ends of the usb cable are firmly plugged in. If they are, you probably need to update your usb driver. See here for more on doing this. http://www.craftedge.com/products/driver.html HTH

okay I'm lost now, it is firmly in there so I went to read about the drivers.. I do not have where it says USB serial converter.. I looked under usb ports. by the way I have windows vista.. so I downloaded the drivers and now I'm totally lost.. I see a bunch of dll files and two folders each having a systems file.. what do I do.. sorry to sound like a dummy but it's been a very long time since I have installed anything onto this computer..
Thanks

Try turning your cricut off and then back on. Watch for a balloon in the Windows message bar that says something about "found new hardware" Click on that when it appears to run the setup. Sorry, I only had to do this once and I don't remember the details.

If you are still having this message again after trying the other suggestions...close out the error box and try cutting again...lately for some reason, I will get this message and I have to tell it to try again and then it's fine...go figure! It only seems to do it when I first connect...if I'm cutting several times, it doesn't give me the error message each time, just when I initially plug in.robynann wrote:I was wrong about the error message , it says cricut machine can not be found... help anyone

We think it's a bad connection into the Cricut as my Design Studio won't run either.. I think the port from the cricut itself, so unless I can get that fixed somewhere I'm out of luck for both.. I had the wire exposed on the back and it might have been damaged that way, tried a new wire and same thing, hubby tried it on other computer and we did not get the message of new hardware found.. Thanks all for trying to help me but I think I have a damaged machine..

So sorry!
It's frustrating! When I got my machine it ran the first night and then nothing the next day...finally got hold of someone else with a machine to try their cord and that's what was bad on mine...all I needed was a new cord but I was delayed in using my machine for a couple of weeks! Ugh! Hope you get it resolved!

Re: Cricut won't cut, keep getting error message
I'm also having a problem. Mine is a little different. When I first got my SCAL it worked just find no problems. I took a break for a few months, come back and now it won't cut. I says it's cutting, says it's finished, but nothing happens. I've tried everything I know to do. Will I totally mess things up if I try to reinstall the software. I don't know what the next step would be. I updated my firmware, turned everything off and back on again, checked my cables. Help me please SOMEONE!!
