Saving to Dropbox issues...quick question

Post by CrossHairSB »

Hi everyone,

Wondering if this is a common fault of one thing or another. But when I save a SCAL project to dropbox...it takes forever! It never use to be like this. I mean it actually freezes up SCAL and hangs up my internet connection for a few minutes.
Thank you in advance for your time,
Ken

Do this as a test...

1. Start a new project and add, say, a simple circle to the screen.
2. Save that to your dropbox and time how long it takes.
3. ALSO save it to, Documents or your desktop and time how long it take.

I just want to have something more factual I can send to the developer.

Also, are you on a PC or a Mac? And what version of SCAL5. Please don't just say "the latest"... actually note the version number when you open SCAL5. Thanks!

Just as an aside, I use Google Drive for my cloud storage and I haven't experienced any change at all. I also volunteer at 4 different SCAL FB groups where this is a lot of activity every day and no one has reported there. So, I'm not sure if it's something that will be fixable or not.

Thanks Sandy,
Version 5.025 (PC). I'm doing the test now. But, also...most times it takes forever to load up SCAL. Sometimes I need to wait over an hour. With regards to it taking a long time to save projects, I saw mention that it might be because of characters/fonts I have.
Best,
Ken

I recommend updating to the latest which is 5.048. You can download it from this link:

I've never heard anything about fonts or characters affecting saving time. The only thing that might affect saving is if you have a lot of large raster images (imported JPG, PNG, BMP files) because they tend to explode the size of the file you're saving. But even then I wouldn't expect it to take more than a minute at most.
