Help with converting jpg to svg!

Post by rdelagarza »

I'm having trouble! I have a jpg image of a diaper template
http://images.marthastewart.com/images/ ... nounce.pdf
(the one on the bottom)I've tried to turn it into a SVG file. I followed all the
tutorials: I PrintScreen the original image, then opened in Paint then I cut and
paste and saved as diaper1 >Open Inkscape >Import Image > Path > Bitmap >
clicked update ok > exit > deleted original (open)> saved file as diaper.svg >
Opened SCAL import svg.....and nothing :( What am I doing wrong?

This one is already in vector form. All you have to do is click on the disk icon and save it. Import it into Inkscape, ungroup a couple of times (until no more groups are listed in the message bar at the bottom of the window). Delete everything that you don't want, then save it as svg.

Are you selecting OK after you trace bitmap?
The traced image will be on top of the original, are you deleting the right one? Move the top image and then select the bottom one. Look at the message bar at the bottom of the window and make sure that it says "image" before you delete. HTH
