Hi all, Having great fun using SCAL, It's the best thing since sliced bread !!!!!
Just having a problem though...
I'm finding some great Dingbats to use... I download them and save
them and they are in my font box on SCAL...so no problem there
I then see them in my ' VIEW' box, and they are on my mat ...
but ON closer look of picture- the outline is made of 2 lines
I know this is just gonna look a right mess and not even worth cutting ...
so my question is , do I have to change these Dingbats?
I am having this problem with all the dingbats I have
Im not very good on inkscape prog , so I just found a dinbat and
quickly saved it in my inkscape program...
Saved As... inkscape svg and I also saved it as a plain svg
I opened SCAL, imported the file I saved and Theres no picture .....mmmm can someone help me ? wot am i doing wrong?

by 2 lines.

I wish I had an answer for you, it seems that most of the cartoon dingbats are like this, when you cut them you will get more of an outline of the character, but then you will be left with the inside that alot of the time looks just as good (sorry I'm not sure how else to explain it)

If you wanted to go to inkscape I suposse you could trace it, but I'm not to good at that program yet, so hopefully someone will come on here and give you better advice.

Have you tried importing it to SCA and cutting it as a blackout, then regular and using the regular cuts as layers to your blackout? I haven't tried this but it's something I've thought about giving a whirl in the future b/c like you, I'm not so good with making adjustments on Inkscape. I can trace, shadow and weld ok but now that we can do the shadow and weld in SCA I only now use Inkscape for double shadows or tracing.
If you try the suggestion I made about layering please post it as I'd like to see if it turns out.

You are correct - some of these fonts make a total mess when you cut them out. I downloaded a font creator by high logic. With this, I can edit any of the glyphs (fonts and dingbats) before I cut them.

If I were good at explaining I could post it but, alas, I am terrible at explaining. It is a pretty detailed but once you get the hang of it, simple as pie.

Where did you get the Scooby Doo dingbat...SD is my daughter's favorite.

Yeah, so I have been making my own dingbat fonts - layers and the whole bit. I was thinking about selling them for a few dollars, just because of all the time it takes. So far I made a whole vacation/summer one, all bog breed silhouettes, and now am working on one completely of different boxes. Why am I doing this - who knows!?!? I just get so caught up in it..... Regardless, it is nice because then you have everything in one place - no folders, and a lot to choose from. It really is like having your own customized cartridges. I am also working on combining some of the other dingbat fonts that I have downloaded, just for my use, only keeping the glyphs that will cut well on the Cricut. I REALLY recommend!

Do you have a pug silhouette? I'd soooo love this if you do and would share. I haven't found a good one!
