Need Help Please

Post by Craftmom44 »

Brand new here and already asking for help. I thought I could figure this out, but alas...it's not true. I downloaded the trial version last night and plugged my cricut (which has been updated to version 1.1) into my computer and it said "Found new hardware". I checked my device manager and found the USB Serial Converter already installed so I didn't think I needed to download the driver from craftedge. However when I went to cut, it told me driver not found. Ok so I went to bed cause it was late and downloaded the driver this am. Extracted all files and installed in windows/drivers file. However now when I plug in the cricut to the computer and turn it on, it's not even saying New Hardward found like last night and still says I haven't installed the driver. Do I need to uninstall everything and start over? If so I guess I need more step by step directions so I don't mess this up. I've been telling all my friends (I teach scrapbooking and card making) how great this program is and have waited to purchase since I have a dial up connection and wanted to make sure it would work. Thanks in advance for any and all help. Guess this granny has met her match and I'm sure it's easy as can be.

Did you send an email to Todd at Craft Edge. The email address for support is support@craftedge.com. He is very good about answering and troubleshooting.

Just curious, but did you upgrade your Cricut firmware first with Design Studio? Because without doing that, SCAL can't work. The firmware upgrade allows the computer to send commands to the Cricut via the USB port.
